New Reservation System Coming for County Parks: What Campers Should Do Before (and After) the Switch

Pinellas County Parks & Conservation Resources is moving to a new online reservation system, and there’s a short window when reservations will be offline. Here’s how to protect your plans, prep your packing list, and avoid last-minute surprises.

A quick heads-up for anyone booking County Parks campsites

If your camping calendar includes Pinellas County Parks & Conservation Resources sites (think campsites, shelters, and even certain passes), there’s a new online reservation system rolling out soon—and a brief pause in booking while everything migrates.

The good news: the upgrade is designed to be more mobile-friendly and easier to pay and manage reservations. The important part for campers is timing—knowing when reservations are unavailable, and what to do if you already have a trip on the books.

    CampMate move

As soon as your reservation is confirmed, start your CampMate packing list right away—then you can keep prepping even if the reservation website is temporarily offline.

What’s changing with the reservation system (and why it matters)

Pinellas County Parks & Conservation Resources is transitioning to a new online reservation and registration system that will handle campsites, shelters, programs, and certain passes and events that require registration.

One key promise of the new system is better mobile access across platforms and browsers, plus support for major credit cards. That’s a win for families and groups booking from phones while coordinating a trip.

    • One system for campsites, shelters, programs, and registrations
    • Improved mobile usability for booking and managing details on the go
    • Major credit card payments supported online
    • Waitlist notifications (helpful for popular programs)

    Planning tip

Screenshot or save your current reservation confirmation details (dates, site number, receipt) so you have them handy during any transition period.

Dates to know (so you don’t get stuck mid-booking)

Pinellas County announced a one-week delay to the rollout due to technical issues. The updated go-live date is Monday, March 9, 2026.

During the migration window, the current system will be offline and reservation services will be suspended from March 2 through March 8, 2026. If you were planning to book during that stretch, you’ll want to plan around it.

    • Reservation system offline: March 2–8, 2026
    • New system available: Monday, March 9, 2026

    Booking strategy

If your trip is time-sensitive, try to book before March 2, 2026—or set a reminder to book right when the new system opens on March 9, 2026.

Your quick camper checklist: accounts, confirmations, and backups

Whenever a booking system changes, the biggest stress points are: access to your account, confirmation details, and what happens if you need to adjust plans. Pinellas County notes that user accounts will be automatically created for certain users with active reservations on or after the new system’s launch date, while others will create a new account on first sign-in.

If you think there’s any chance you’ll need a cancellation or refund while the system is offline, the county provided an email contact for assistance during the downtime.

    • Save confirmation emails as PDFs (and/or print them)
    • Write down your check-in/out dates and site/shelter details
    • Plan bookings outside the offline window (March 2–8, 2026)
    • If you need help during downtime, use the county’s provided contact email

    CampMate packing insurance

Even if reservations are paused, your prep doesn’t have to be. Use CampMate to build a reusable “Florida car camping” template (sun protection, bug spray, rain layer, extra water) and clone it for each trip.

Bottom line: a small pause now for smoother booking later

A reservation system change can feel like a curveball—especially when you’re trying to coordinate friends, kids, time off work, and the gear pile in the garage. But with a little timing awareness and a couple of backups (saved confirmations, reminders, and a solid packing list), it’s totally manageable.

If you’re camping in Pinellas County soon, plan around the March 2–8, 2026 booking downtime—and be ready to log in and book once the new system goes live on March 9, 2026.

      Last-minute win

The night before you leave, do a final CampMate “3 essentials check”: sleep system, food/water, and weather layers. If those are covered, most trips go smoothly.
